    New York City expanding 40km/h speed limit on arterial main streets  [3 May 2014] 
     

    Over the past three weeks, DOT has been rolling out its 25 mph (40km/h) arterial slow zone program to high-crash streets one by one: Atlantic Avenue, the Grand Concourse, McGuinness Boulevard, and this morning, Broadway in Manhattan. Now, the initiative will expand to nine more streets across the city by the end of August, with 12 more streets to be announced later this year.

    【on.cc東網專訊】美國紐約交通局前日宣布,將曼哈頓華埠堅尼路、法拉盛北方大道等全市8條街道列爲減速區,時速由現在的48公里改爲40公里,以改善紐約市行人過馬路危險的問題。

    受影響的包括由東百老匯開始至西街的一整條堅尼路,横穿整個華埠。這條路自2008年以來,共有6人死於車輪下。紐約市長白思豪年初宣布「零死亡願景」,宣稱將於任內,致力把紐約市行人過馬路致死的意外減少至零。
